Change your Driving definitions

You control your vehicle is #1.

Many drivers believe someone else is controlling their vehicle. We feel we  are being blocked from doing what we want to do. When we are driving, we feel we are force to block, brake, stop, & wait to keep our spot. Doing these actions causes us to block other vehicles, slow them down, create braking shock waves, and create traffic jams. It is the norm for us to see others do this, and we take these actions to protect ourselves in traffic. What else can we do?

We don't think we are creating a traffic jam. We are reacting to other drivers. When we are asked, "Why did you stop on the freeway behind that stopped vehicle?", which answer should we give? "The vehicle ahead of me stopped. That's why I stopped." or "I ran out of space, because I was going too fast." Both answers are correct. One puts the blame on someone else and one puts you in firm control of your car, your drive, and your future.

When we put the blame on someone else, we are powerless. How can I solve the traffic jam problem?, I did not do anything wrong. I cannot change other drivers behavior. I don't control them. Someone else will have to fix this problem for me. I don't even know where to start. It will be different tomorrow, because I will do the same thing again and the result will be different. I can't fix this problem today, because it will take too much time. I don't like feeling out of control, so I will ignore it for a little while. Auto-drive vehicles will fix everything in the future, and I do not have to do a thing. The way you perceive a traffic jam tells you what solutions are available. From these points of view, we will not take any action toward a traffic jam solution.

When we are in control, we can solve the traffic jam issue. We figure out what is the true cause of the traffic jam. We see the thousands of possible solutions to fix it. We determine what will work the best for us all. We adjust to the circumstances. We make plan to handle the the issue. We gather information on what our actions produced. Any improvements we can make to improve traffic flow can be implemented. We develop new ways, new devices, and increase the knowledge of the drivers on the road to make things make traffic flow.  We communicate the solution to get others to act with the plan. We increase our resource and keep traffic moving. We join together and act as a group to get things done. We improve the roads, our transportation system, save trillions of dollars, reduce drive time, pollution, & stress & it all started, because you control your steering wheel, brake and accelerator and join the movement.

Individuals can do anything one wants to do, but a group is more effective, has  more options, and more resource than any individual. Working together has several advantages over an individual.

Please join the club. Make a donation, if you drive. Reducing or getting rid of traffic jams is easy. Big accomplishment start with what seems to be really hard, small 1st steps.
